The night was hot and humid on the border of the two Korea's. These were troubled times and this new recruit knew it. U.S. soldiers talked of the growing tensions between North and South Korea. North Korea was rumoured to have nuclear capacity now and over 1 million trained soldiers. South Korea had been holding out on the prospects of war, they knew they were buggered if the North launched an all out assault on them. Even the U.S. soldiers with their high tech equipment stationed there wouldn't be able to contain the slaughter that was bound to ensue.

Still Gong su-il gripped his K2 service rifle with meaning and intensity in his eyes. They would take his motherland over his dead body. The K2 was essentially a cross between an American M16 and Russian AK-47. A 30 round magazine as per standard.
Still a rifle was only as good as whoever wielded it.

Gong wiped the sweat from his head as it poured down his face. The sun beat down upon him as the worst summer hit the two Koreas in years.
